Towns and postcodes: link French municipalities in Shopware
Use reference data to link a municipality to its postcodes. FroggShop imports these records so they can be used in the project’s address journeys.
Distinguish a municipality from its postcode
The reference dataset stores municipalities and postcodes separately, with their associations. It does not assume that one postcode corresponds to a single municipality.
These records can support entry assistance when it is connected to the form.
Import data by French department
The collector retrieves departments and their municipalities from geo.api.gouv.fr, then creates or updates local data. Processing can run through a message queue.
The reference dataset retains the name, municipality code, postcodes and geographical coordinates received, among other information.
Plan reference data freshness and usage
Importing data does not, by itself, prove that a town/postcode selector is active in every form. The interface using this data and its updates must be defined.
The intended coverage is French municipalities, with specific handling of Monaco in the collector. This is neither a worldwide directory nor complete postal address validation.
