Variant creation: group references for the same product in Shopware

References sold separately may be variants of the same product. The FroggShop tool lets teams group them under a parent and assign the options that distinguish them.

Define the family and its options

Teams select the references to group and the relevant property groups, such as size or colour. Each reference receives the options that describe its variant.

An existing family can be used as a starting point. The interface also lets teams designate the main variant.

Update relationships with the parent

Saving links the selected references to the parent and adapts its configuration options. If a selected reference must itself become a variant, the process can create a new parent.

This journey groups existing references into variants; it does not automatically generate every possible combination from a list of options.

Review inherited data before publication

Grouping also changes local data to allow inheritance, including the description and cross-selling data of the references being processed.

Prepare the operation with catalogue owners and check the family’s content, options and presentation before promoting it.
